No Beaver, No Problem pt.6

How’s it goin’ today,
Well, just in case you are still having some difficulty finding a semi-adequate alternative to Blue Beaver, have no fear.  I have yet another one to offer you.  Old Live Stock.  Despite the name, it tastes nothing like cattle. It is actually a very fine stout that I find ideal to serve at a BBQ.  The strong flavour of the beer stands up well with the heaviness of beef steaks.  The name comes from the fact that the brewer keeps the stock of the beer alive longer than normal and then allows the beer to age for a full five years before bottling resulting in not only a strong taste, but also a strong alcohol content: 8%alc./vol.  I was first introduced to Old Live Stock years ago.  It was a favorite of my friend Gordon, in fact I rarely recall him ever buying any other brand.  I cannot fault his taste at all, it is at least equal to any of the other beers I have mentioned in this series.  So, when you’re Blue at a BBQ and there’s no Beaver close at hand, grab some Old Live Stock.
