Beer is undoubtedly one of the greatest beverages ever made. Still, there are many other drinkables out there, so I thought I would focus on a few of the others in the next few weeks. Let’s start with a little known morning drink that has been gaining popularity in the last few years: coffee.
If you have never tried it, you really should.You will either love it or hate it. You might have a little trouble tracking some down as it is still not widely available. Keep your eyes open and you will sooner or later find a place that you can get some. A couple of locations that you could stumble on would be Starbuck’s (sadly, this has nothing to do with Battlestar Galactica) or Tom Norton’s. Both of these outlets are small and hard to find, but hopefully a few more will open up soon. At least neither one of these small chains has sold out to the man yet.
You can also ‘brew’ coffee (but not like they brew beer) at home. First you need a ‘coffee maker’, which you can get from certain specialty shops like Walmart. If you have never seen a Walmart, these stores are also small and a good place to get those ‘one of a kind’ custom items. If you are unable to find one, you can order your coffee maker online. Then, check the grocery store in the exotic foods section for ‘coffee grounds’ (no dirt in here!) Follow the instructions on the coffee maker to brew yourself a hot cup of joe. If you don’t get the first batch just right, don’t worry. It can take years to perfect the brewing procedure as it is extremely complicated for novices. In Restaurants, only journeyman (or woman) brewers are allowed access to the delicate coffee equipment.
