Martini Experiment

January 12th, 2007 · No Comments

My wife and I have been talking about making our own martinis at home but we never got around to it. Not the traditional dry ones, the fruity ones. Well, last night we decided to give it a try.
Anyone else remember how Jethro Bodine was going to catch a few wild martinis and get Granny to cook em up for him? It’s been a while since I had watched The Beverly Hilbillies, so I just bought the book ‘The Martini: A Collection” and picked one out.
We decided to make a couple El Nino’s to start. We made em for the kiddies too! Don’t worry, we substituted gingerale for alcohol for theirs.

El Nino
2 parts vodka
2 parts peach schnapps
1 part blue curaco
4 parts pineapple juice
4 parts orange juice
1 splash soda water

The results were pretty good. Nicole thought there was a little too much peach schnapps, and I thought there could have been a little more sugar, but overall they went down smooth. I don’t see how you would want an olive to garnish these ones! Maybe an orange slice, though..
