Get Your Calcium From Beer

Over in Japan, they brew up some interesting beer variations. One brewery has been making potato beer for quite some time. Now they are branching out into new territory.
It seems that he has located a large supply of surplus milk, due to the fact that Japan’s dairy industry is out-producing the shrinking demand. Japanese people aren’t drinking as much milk.
It’s obvious, isn’t it? They could make beer out of milk! I don’t know why we didn’t think of that….
The new product is called ‘Bilk’ and it is only 30 % milk, with the rest of the ingredients being standard beer contents such as hops.It sounds like they had to change the production process quite a bit to succeed in making a viable product.
I first heard about it at Mainichi Daily News. It doesn’t seem likely that we will be seeing any over here in the near future, so if you really want to try it you better book a flight!

  2. Milk beer does not sound even slightly appealing. I’d rather drink skunky beer. I like milk and I love beer, but they don’t belong together.

  3. They have some starnge beers over thier. Not sure i would even try this one since it sounds like the 2 would not even mix well.

    according to japantoday, this new beer at Supermarket chain operator Aeon Co said Monday it has co-developed with Japanese brewer Suntory Liquors Ltd a ‘‘third-category’’ beer-like drink that it will start selling.
