We’ve all heard the old axiom, "Everything happens for a reason". I try really hard to believe that this is true, but the problem is these reasons exist on a cosmic level. It is nigh impossible for us mere mortals to comprehend why such seemingly senseless bull-crap happens to us everyday. For example, when I go to the fridge and find that my roommate has drank my last Blue Beaver and then I go to my car and it has a flat tire, so I walk two blocks to the closest liquor store and it’s closed for no apparent reason, so then I have to walk one extra block to the next closest liquor store but it’s being robbed, so now I have to walk three blocks back to my house and I am so worn out that I just collapse on my couch and I end up falling asleep without having drank any alcohol at all for nearly twenty-four hours; what could the universe possibly be trying to tell me?
It’s similar to the old question: if a bear falls in the forest and no one is around to hear him say, "Wauuggh!", does he still say it? What if you decide to drive a different route home from your job and it ends up taking an extra ten minutes, but as a result of the detour you don’t get into a fatal accident? You don’t know what didn’t happen, all you know is it took an extra ten minutes to get home and maybe you miss the first ten minutes of "Lost". You’ll probably ask yourself, "Why the hell did I do that?" Unfortunately you’ll never know the answer.
I don’t seem to have any particular point to make here; but I’m sure I wrote this for a reason.
