U.S. Army Contractors working in Canada recently became alarmed when they discovered what they thought to be radio frequency transmitters embedded in coins. The contractors described the coins as "filled with something man-made that that looked like nano-technology". It turns out these coins were the new poppy quarters issued by the Canadian Mint. One U.S. Contractor wrote, "Under high power microscope, it appeared to be complex consisting of several layers of clear, but different material, with a wire-like mesh suspended on top."
These same people probably found our coloured paper money to be extremely confusing, they may have even thought the foil security patch on the twenties was some sort of micro-transmitter that could relay personal information about them. I suspect they were also confounded by the lack of one and two dollar bills. Although I do feel that the Canadian quarter should go back to the traditional picture of the Blue Beaver on the one side and that old lady (who ever she is) on the other
