I have always had heartburn, as far back as I can remember. When I was 5, I asked my mother what it was and she didn’t believe I had it. I just suffered along with the pain for years, not even tums or rolaids when I was a kid.
I haven’t gone to the doctor to get drugs, because other than caffeine and Blue Beaver Beer, I try not to be a user. I had just resigned myself to suffering indefinitely and going through bottles of rolaids monthly. Recently, I find myself acid free! Here’s what happened.
A couple days ago I was over at Untwisted Vortex and I read Got Heartburn? In his article he talks about using apple cider vinegar to stop heartburn. I had heard this before, but it sounds crazy. How can more acid make you have less acid?
I was burning up inside, so I figured I might as well give it a try. I didn’t think it could make the situation any worse.
One Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. We just happened to have some of that around. When I got it up to my mouth I almost chickened out, but swallowed it anyways. As reported, the burning was pretty intense. I felt unsettled and kinda cooked inside for a couple hours. And for the rest of the day, no heartburn!
Two days later and no heartburn yet. Just a slight bit of acid this morning, but nothing serious. The cure seems to be working, and I am planning on another shot of vinegar to make sure. Please note, I didn’t change anything else I have been eating and my schedule hasn’t changed. And 2 days of no heartburn is pretty much unheard of for me. I’ll update in comments to let you know if it keeps working.

You might make it easier on yourself if you just give up coffee and high fat food. Worked for me.

Sadly, when I was 4 years old and started getting heartburn I wasn’t drinking much coffee or eating a lot of fat.

To improve your digestive system you can start by eating a healthy diet and staying away from foods that trigger your condition. You should also eat a lot of water and a lot of fiber as well. To help you can also take herbal bitters like Angostura Bitters before you eat each meal.
I used your article while writing text on heartburn remedies on my blog written in Polish. It’s not a translation word by word though. Thank you.
