We Fought the Law

May 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

I traveled recently to the land of Capitol Hill (located in the great sprawling country of Calgary).  While there I attended a birthday party for my friend Sandi.  All of the local community leaders (including Leslie and Candace) were also present.  There was hot and cold flowing food, hot and cold flowing children, and hot and cold flowing Blue Beaver Beer (well, not so much hot flowing).  Naturally there was a large bonfire and even some fireworks (I saw three flares over the course of an hour).  Sandi, as sovereign of her own home, was showered with gifts from her admirers and those who just wanted to suck up to praise her.  The party went on for many hours and would probably still be going on but the rulers of Calgary decided they wanted exert their authority over their small constituent.  They sent in armed forces to quash the celebration, claiming that it was an unlawful assembly.  We decided that we would defy their commands and  we blatantly continued our assembly inside Sandi’s home-very quietly, with the windows closed, the curtains drawn and the lights turned off.    I even went so far as to dream of taking the rebellion right to the Calgarian Parliament.  That will show them that we can’t be pushed around.
