How to Live A Full Life
18.06.07 # 18:39 # Adventures in Real Life # No CommentRecently I started to feel that something in my life was lacking. I couldn’t really pin it down to any one thing, just a vague emptiness inside me. Usually I can find the solution to all my problems inside a case of Blue Beaver Beer. This time, though, it just wasn’t there for me. I had a couple of sessions with a professional therapist, but he wasn’t really any help. All he wanted to talk about was my childhood and abandonment issues, but I knew that wasn’t the problem this time. I e-mailed Larry Winget to see if he had any advice for me, but all he said was, "I don’t care." I tried to Google the answer, but seeing as I couldn’t define the problem, that wasn’t much help. I was pretty much at the end of my rope and I had no idea where to turn to.
Then my friend Sandi showed me the answer; Facebook! I joined this growing on-line sensation and immediately all of the emptiness inside me was filled up. I’ve tried other on-line communities before, but this one is different. Just looking at the homepage it seems so vibrant and exciting. And the things you can do; for instance, there is a Facebook wide food fight going on. You can "buy" a wide assortment of food items and "throw" them at your friends. I can just imagine the look on Tim’s face when I hit him with a bowl of beans. It is to laugh. And then there’s this application called "Superpoke"; you can do things to your friends like karate chop, drop kick, head-but, trip and sucker punch just to name a few. I guess you can do nice things too, but that’s no fun.
Now that, I’m on Facebook my life is just so full, I spend all of my spare time just looking to see what all of my friends (like Nicole, Lesley and Kelly) are doing. I can’t wait to read their "status" so that I know exactly where they are and what they’re doing at any given time. This is just so incredibly convenient for me. Now I don’t have to actually travel to their homes and peer in the window. Facebook makes stalking easy.
