Every now and again I enjoy just going for a drive (when gas prices aren’t too gouge-atastic). No real destination in mind; as the saying goes “it is the journey that is important”. This one time; it was quite late at night, I was feeling a bit tired but I just didn’t feel like going to bed. Instead I got a sudden urge to go for a drive. At first I thought I would stay in the city, but pretty soon I found myself out on the open highway. Then a kind of unusual thing happened. Because I was driving while distracted and tired my mind began to wander in some rather wild directions. For a minute I thought I saw a wild boar on the side of the road. Then I suddenly became convinced that there was a large door in the middle of the road. At first I thought I was going to run right into it, but then it occurred to me that I could unlock this door with the key of my imagination. Once I was through it I knew that I was in another dimension. This dimension had what I can only define as more-real-than-real qualities. The sights and sounds were astounding. It was the dimension of my mind. Then I moved into a different land. It was a land that had both shadowy qualities as well as actual substance, it had things and ideas that I couldn’t quite grasp. I came to believe that I had just crossed over into the twilight zone.
Oh my, definitely don’t drive tired.
Once I was driving from South Carolina to Missouri and I got really tired. I woke up when my passenger screamed and I found out I was no longer on the road, but instead in the middle of a wide grassy median..still going about 75 mph.
Oh no, don’t drive tired.
One time I was tired enough to see animals in the road that weren’t there, like a boar howling at the moon. Definitely dangerous. And two guys working for the company I do drove off the highway at full speed because the driver fell asleep. Only cost $18000 to fix the truck.
