Recently, in New London, a very rare blue lobster was caught by some local fishermen.  At first they were intending to take it home and have a feast.  Then they changed their minds, possibly due to peering deep into the lobsters eyes and seeing it’s sad, puppy dog-like, expression.  Instead these fishermen decided to allow the blue lobster to live out it’s life in an environment where it could thrive.  Naturally they thought of the Horseguard Lake.

The lobster is blue due to a rare (1 in 3 million) genetic mutation whereby it produces more protein than a normal lobster.  There are already three other blue lobsters living quite happily in the Horseguard.  The unique properties of the water make it an ideal place for these creatures to grow and thrive and raise their families.  Often times, if you are visiting the lake, the lobsters can be seen frolicking along with the Blue Beaver amidst the blue lilly-pads and cattails.

This is just one more example of the beauty and wonder that makes the Horseguard Valley one of the top 35 tourist destinations in the Condor/Leslieville Corridor.Blue_lobster

And how’s this type of lobster in taste? Does it defer from the red ones?
