The Croo

August 12th, 2007 · No Comments

The Croo is a mysterious and malevolently evil entity.  Very little is known about The Croo; only a small number of people who have encountered it survived the experience.  Fewer still are those whom retained enough grip on sanity to speak coherently of it.  Most of the information regarding The Croo has come from the corpses of it’s victims using means best left undiscussed.  Most did not actually see their killer; they only became aware of an oppressively evil presence before suffering an unimaginably painful, albeit brief, death.  The handful of victims who did see their murderer all have varying descriptions of it.  Some say it is human, others believe it could never have been so.  A few seemed to feel it was female, some thought it was definitely male, still others had a sense of it being neither and yet both at the same time.  All victims had the same final thought, the name of the being - The Croo, burning into their minds.  Their very last sight is their own dying face reflected in the eyes of The Croo.  Certain scholars have devoted much time and energy to the study of this entity.  Research of ancient texts have revealed references to The Croo dating back centuries, including a warding incantation against "the hell that walks like a man"   The scholars have divided into two factions.  One believing that The Croo is one, nigh-omnipotent demon with many faces and forms.  The other group believes that The Croo is made up of many evil beings that act as one.   They all surmise that there is no reason or purpose to the killings other than to spread evil on the world.  The scholars are still undecided on whether The Croo serves a higher evil power or if all other evils serve The Croo.
