Alberta Politician Gets the Axe

Published on September 5, 2007 by in jokes

An Alberta politician was forced to resign in the middle of his term. As he packed his things in his office, he looked out the window onto an Edmonton street and talked to his staff members who were there to say goodbye.
“See that new school over there? Last year I persuaded cabinet to vote the appropriation for that school. Yes, I was responsible for the building of that school. Do you think the voters will remember me for that? And see that new hospital down the road? I used up every one of my favours and called in all my political debts to get that hospital built. But I did it. But will the voters remember me for getting them a new hospital? Of course they won’t!
“And then there’s the work on the Whitemud freeway that I worked so hard to get the money to build. You can bet the voters won’t give that a thought either.
“But screw one underage boy, and they never forget!”
