Crowning The Comment King (or Queen)

RT at Untwisted Vortex has just started a new contest. The full details are at this blog entry: Attention Bloggers: We Need To Change.
The basic idea is to see who can leave the most comments out there in blogland. I think it’s a pretty good idea. The key thing is to let other bloggers in on this contest, and they will probably visit your site if they are interested in the idea. Here’s the gist of RT’s contest:

"For those of you who are willing to participate, I’m starting a
comment contest as of right now. Make a comment on a blog you read (but
not as the sole comment — just as an aside or something) and let the
blogger know about the contest. I’ll create the image or have one of my
more graphically-oriented online friends do it for me.

You, as the blog author of your own blog, need to count how many
comments per commenter you receive. Every week, ending in Saturday,
send me the name, URL, and comment count of the person who commented on
your blog the most (ties are okay). I will pick a weekly winner from
all the submissions.

Needless to say, while I’ll be participating myself, I won’t by
vying for the award. If no one else participates, I won’t have a much
of a list to pick a winner from, will I?"

Well, I’m off  to comment somewhere!

    This sounds a fresh approach.

Well this sounds like a great contest. It should be a lot easier than guessing the number of jellybeans in a jar.

I hope a lot of bloggers get in on it.

It’s nice to see people take an interest in others’ blogs. I truly appreciate that you’ve commented on my blog.

Thanks to all those who participate in this. I already do - because I’ve been commenting on others’ blogs for years now :D

    You’re welcome, Hari.

    Hi Tim,

Although I’m not taking part in RT’s contest by deliberately increasing my comment load, which is hectic enough already, I will send him details of my top commenters to help with his stats and in choosing a winner :-)
Good luck to those taking an active part!

Ah, so now I get it … why I got your comments on my own blog! :-) I had already read RT’s post, too, and think it’s a good idea. I sometimes am lax in leaving a comment, he has a good point. So yeah, returning the favor, and tag, you’re it!
