Well, ain’t that special! Ernie and I received an award! It is really great to get a Be The Blog award from I Do Things So You Don’t Have To (at first I thought it was a Beer The Blog award, since that kinda would have made sense). She originally gave it to us at our old site, Blue Beaver Beer. We no longer just sit around drinking beer over there, although I still have it active. That blog will be completely discontinued real soon. It had 35 spam comments in the last twelve hours, and Typepad doesn’t give any options for weeding the damn things out except manually.
I guess all of our hard work drinking beer and making stuff up finally paid off. This award was created by MeAndMyDrum to be given to blogs who have fun with it, who really “make it their own”, and who interact with readers. I’d say we are doing our best to have positive relationships with our beer buddies from around the world. Why, just last night we hosted a good old fashioned Monday Night Brawl for some of our friends.
The best part about this is the opportunity to pass this award on to others who could use a pat on the back. I’d love to send them both a gift of Blue Beaver Beer in a basket, but I’m fresh out so they will have to get their own beer and snacks.
- The first one that comes to mind is Gerri at Absolutely True. Not only does she have weird news from around the world, gossip about celebrities and pictures of cats riding invisible bicycles, she also keeps the witty banter flowing in comment form on other people’s blogs. She collects cool and funny videos like these ones about Miss South and Miss West Carolina. And she ‘ll back you up in a brawl with her trusty, rusty knife.
- Then there’s RT at Untwisted Vortex. I like to read his posts even when I barely have a clue what he’s talking about, like this one about Packet Internet Gropers. There always seems to be a lively conversation about Pagerank, or the legalities of pirated stuff, and a whole pile of other things. RT is handing out awards for frequent commenters on other people’s blogs. All you have to do is ask, and he reviews blogs for free, stumbles, diggs, favorites and helps promote anyone’s content that he doesn’t find offensive or unethical (for him, personally). How can much more can anyone be their blog?
