It’s something Tim and I have been striving and hoping for since we first started writing about Blue Beaver Beer. I know a lot of our loyal patrons have probably already achieved this goal, but I’m sure there are many more of you who are still holding out hope. I know, from my own experience, that there are times when you feel that you will never reach this milestone. But just keep going; don’t feel down, it will happen, believe me. Someday you too will reach the 1000 spam comments mark like we finally did today.
I have to say thank you to everyone out there trying to make an honest buck by promoting sex and porn and viagra and auto insurance rates. Without all of you we never would have made it. I was going to just reprint the 1000th spam comment for everyone to read but when I saw that we had just less than one hundred in the three days since I deleted them last I decided that I would take a few highlights from each of them and share the “clip show” with everybody. The celebration is still going with much Blue Beaver yet to be drank, so enjoy (by the way, I suggest you read them slowly in order to really savour their delicate taste).

Congrats! If you’re using Wordpress, try to upgrade when they do because I find more spam on old blogs still running on older versions of Wordpress.

wow am I jealous! I have a whooping 486 spam in my akismet…. its all casino and insurance. I gotta figure out how to get the sex spam stuff. Surely thats gotta be the ticket!

I just checked. Would you believe 196,000 spam attempts foiled? It hit that number after one spammer tried to send 70 through a few hours ago.

I delete the spam comments….I think now I should start collecting…that is surely….something to boast…

Have you tried using expression engine ?
A friend of mine uses it on her blog and said its better than wordpress. .. i haven’t tried it though as i don’t know how to keep my url’s and port my wordpress data into it.
Do follow blogs get hammered by spammers. My Do follow blogging blog has had over 40,000 in a year. Crazy stuff. Hard work moderating at times. Blog posts about beating Wordpress spam encourage spammers I think

I’m not sure how long it took you to get to 1,000 spam comments (congrats?), but from the time of your post (July 10) to now (August 22) you’ve more than doubled the number. You’re now at 2,419 spam comments. Another 1,419 in just 32 days! Looks like you’ve really made it! Anyone want to bet on when you’ll hit 10,000? Could that be the subject for a new post, and the winner gets a six pack of Blue Beaver? Or maybe an all expenses paid trip to the Philippines?

It took about 8 months to get a thousand porn, viagra and such spam comments to start with. you’re right, we sure are popular these days!
Maybe we should have a contest like you said, but we will give away a virtual redneck beer gift basket

Hi Tim, doesn’t your Akismet-Plugin filter most of the Sex, Porn, Viagra, Cyalis etc. Spam in your WP System?
I also receive a lot of spam and also use KeywordLuv but most of the Spam is filtered out automatically by Akismet…
Try using it if you haven’t still…
