wordpress releases frequent updates nowadays & i hav to admit that its annoying.
but u hav to hav a newer version at least comparing to the latest one. then u wont hav such messages
besides wordpress has released 2.6.3 version now & u can upgrade to it just by uploading two files from 2.6.2

I am so busy patting myself on the back for performing my original WP installation by myself that I barely notice the upgrade appeals. I think you should give yourself more credit too!
