I agree with your statement. I’m guessing that the person merely wanted to test his hacking skills and wanted to “leave his mark” there that’s why he did that. OR he was merely offended of what was written on that blog. Regardless of the reason, I don’t get his actions. I’ve never been hacked before, but I’ll take heed of your advice.

I can’t understand people who do this to be honest. Okay, sure, you’re so clever. You’ve hacked into someone’s blog, you’ve caused a bit of damage and…. now what? It’s not like they get anything out of it apart from a brief feeling of satisfaction. May as well just go get laid.

I would go to the extend of saying that backup not only your precious WordPress files but also some of the files stored on your PC as well, we’re humans so sometimes we can make dumbest of errors or any software can have dumb bugs, I was managing my partitions with a partition manager, I just became too much impatient and canceled the scanning of drives, when I rebooted, everything was gone! All hard drive’s partitions were gone and there was a single partition with nothing installed on it.

Make regular backups on your DVDs as well for the crucial data and the data of your blogs as well.

That sucks JD. Glad to see that a backup was available. Last time something like that happened to me, there was no backup available. Talk about a rough way to learn your lesson. I haven't been hacked yet (fingers crossed, knock on wood!) but I have really screwed my blog up doing upgrades to wordpress or even upgrades to plugins. I have a WordPress plug-in that e-mails me a backup of the database every week, so I was feeling secure. Until, that is, I read your line about stabbing deep into the heart of innocent files and corruptifying them! Horror! I've only been keeping one week's backup, and it's quite possible that corruption deep within the files could be missed until my backups were all corrupt too. Thanks for the warning! Ok ok, Strange Brew, but I was beat to the punch as well! Hackers are annoying. I have had them try to get on my site before, but luckily secured everything before they got through. Being without backups is like up a creek without a paddle.
