Take a look at this picture. Can you spot the mistake this redneck guy is making while fixing his truck? For now we will forget about the mistake he made picking trucks. That green is absolutely horrid, but not unsafe unless it makes other motorists throw up and crash.

If you guessed that his welding machine should have been a Miller, that’s not it. While I agree that Millers are good machines, you don’t have to have one for the work he is doing right now, and that one will make perfectly safe welds.

If you guessed personal protective equipment, that’s not it either. True, leather chaps and coveralls would give him more protection, and this is a source of frequent workplace injuries, but he really doesn’t need it to work on his own stuff.

All right, give up?  I’ll tell you what concerns me here. This dumba$$ is welding right beside the gas tank! He could blow himself up! I can’t believe you didn’t spot that.

Wonder if this would pass NASCAR’s safety rules?

  2. Mary | Pasta says:

I am lost for words, is that man still alive???

  3. Liza Brown (career advice expert) from job search says:

I’m just absolutely shocked. And have nothing to say!

  4. Jo from presents for men says:

You don’t have to be a redneck to destroy any health and safety sense. I have moved from the UK out to Greece and see this kind of thing all the time. The whole concept of self preservation seems to have gone out the window here. I was also impressed by the way you have managed to theme your captcha word (FALL) to fit the picture – great idea!

  5. It is clear the work place violation is that he is working on a unregistered truck. There are no plates on the vehicle.

  6. He was almost a candidate for the Darwin Award, although welding next to the gas tank wasn’t the first violation I saw.

  7. furniture says:

This guy is a goner if that board gives away like it will.

  8. Francis from Contemporary Furniture says:

Wow, that really is an example is just plain stupidity and laziness. The only thing that intrigues me is how did me manages to make it stand like that. LOL!

  9. Nico says:

OMG, I am worried that he might get crashed to death! he don’t have safety gears as well as hard hat! I can’t imagine myself fixing my car like this.

  12. Chuck from Used TIG Welders says:

It looks like he is welding on the gas tank. But when the fire breaks out then he scrambles back an kicks the 2x4s that he has proped the truck with. then he’ll be blownup, burn, and be pinned under his dumbass green truck!

Note, An empty tank is more explosive than a full tank.

  13. Oliver from Workplace Safety says:

This picture is quite amusing but it’s also a shame how unsafe it is. He should have thought it through more carefully.

  14. Rob from selling manager pro says:

He’s gonna get squashed! Haha at the CAPTCHA: phosphoric acid.

  17. Paul from Wet Bar Cabinets says:

Hmm I’ve formulated a theory as to why he’s really perfectly safe….

He filled the gas tank with something other than gas, which is why the truck won’t go in the first place. As to the attempted solution, he’s heard that a warm engine starts better than a cold one.

  18. stacie from Garden Office says:

All I can do is laugh look at that. There’s so much wrong with what this man is doing it’s hard to know where to start. But yeah, the horrid colour of that truck is a good place to begin. You’d expect someone who would choose that colour to then sit under a truck loosely propped up by a couple of planks of wood.

  19. james from garden gift says:

Ah man, I hope this guy is still alive because he should be famous. Why do things the safe way eh? In just one picture he details everything a mechanic would not do. It’s like looking at someone standing on one leg at the edge of a cliff, waiting for the wind to blow him over.

  20. Romel from truck driver jobs says:

That looks dangerous, I would not do that kind of method in fixing his car..his life is on the line out there. I won’t recommend it.

  21. Tamara from Bpinhead costumes says:

Wow, this is really shocking. I will not do this kind of method. This is really perilous.

  22. Oh no! Is he trying to kill himself? I’m so worried, why he didn’t use his common sense? To welding under the truck without a firm foundation? It is not a really good idea and the worst is, he is really near the gas tank! I can’t believe this.

  25. Serge from skin tags says:

LOL, I did not spot that, I thought it was how the truck was elevated, it would crush him it it falls, but that is the least of his problem if he exploded with the gas tank. This really would teach us to look closely at things. thanks for this funny insight.

  28. Sam from Lose Abdominal Fat says:

That guy is a complete nutjob. This is probably where mechanics or health and safety course tutors should begin, to show students how NOT to do it unless you feel like dying that day.

  33. Darwin Award, anyone?
