Watch Captain America On Our New Bar Sound System

Published on February 8, 2009 by in celebrities

Have you heard about the new Captain America movieWell, at this point there isn’t really a whole lot to hear.  They are tentatively aiming for a 2011 release date.  Before that, though, there will be Iron Man 2, in which Nick Fury is supposed to play a larger role.  There is also talk of a Thor movie (rumour on the internet suggests that Matthew McConaughey could maybe, possibly, have some slight chance of being in the title role).  All of this (including The Hulk) in turn will eventually lead to The Avengers.  You may recall a previous Avengers movie starring Ralph Fiennes , Uma Thurman and that old guy who was in a couple of James Bond movies, but that’s totally different so just forget I even brought it up.

At any rate all of us Fanboys and Girls out there are eagerly anticipating all of the Marvel movies that are on the horizon.  But at the same time we are pretty worried about what they’ll end up being.  Could they end up another festering bowl of dog snot like the first Hulk or Batman and Robin or will they actually stick really close to the source material the way Iron Man did?  Only time (and spoilers on the internet) will tell.

One thing I can say for certain is that when these movies do eventually come to Pay-Per-View on satellite; they’ll look and sound awesome on our new 75” plasma t.v. and bar sound system that were recently installed down here at the Redneck.  We didn’t get the LCD flat screen TV system from those shifty-looking guys Tim met on the Whitemud.

Instead I got a great deal from two distinguished gentlemen that had a van set up in the parking lot of a mall just off of Crowchild Trail.  They said that they were “mobile wholesale liquidators” and it was my lucky day to have come along when I did.  Apparently, not ten minutes earlier, someone else was looking at the system and was very interested in buying it.  He just had to go to a bank machine.  The only drawback was that they had lost the instruction manuals and it was one of those special “open-box” deals (or rather no box), but that’s what made the system so inexpensive.  So I went ahead and used some of our petty cash fund to seal the deal.  I invited these guys to come down to The Redneck if they were in the area.  I didn’t want to seem overly eager but I kind of hoped that they might come by with some more great deals on electronic equipment and I could get a cheap home-theatre system for my own place.  One strange thing, as I was just getting in my car to leave I overheard one of them say something about changing the license plate before the doughnut eaters showed up.  I haven’t got a clue what they meant by that.

  1. I love Captain America. Brings back the good old memories.

  2. Wonder who will play Steve Rogers and if he will have his sidekick Bucky. Im a big fan of the Marvel and DC comic books, but when the stories are converted to film the special effects are great but the script/story really sucks. Its a shame because they have so much potential and a giant fan base.

  3. Had a bit of a malfuntion so if my message appears twice you know why… :0)

Sorry…I’m not a fan of Captain American movies, but I’m a huge fan of Matthew McConaughey!!!

Of course your last paragraph had me chuckling…
    Cheers

  4. hey Ernie,
It’s good to have you and your amazing wit back on a regular basis! I look forward to Captain America. I though Iron Man started strong, but then sorta of misfired in the second half, but was still well worth watching. Too bad we have to wait to 2011 for the Captain to appear. ~ Steve, the trade show guru
PS. I’ve heard you can never go wrong when you buy from “distinguished looking gentlemen”. :)

  5. nice post. i can’t wait for these movies to come along. I think they will get better hopefully as they keep making them. i hope the hulk gets fixed up, as they got in a big fight after the first one was made. Great job on the “hot” deal tv. never hurts to be in the right place at the right time.

  6. I’ll go and see it as always and then I’ll be angry at them for bastardizing the comic… I should really start downloading those and pay only when the movie is good (which is almost never unfortunately)

  7. thanks for this nice post. i can’t wait for these movies to come along.

  8. I loved watching Captain America when I was younger so maybe it’s now a good time to watch it again with my son :)

  9. I can not see mathew as thor. They need some one with more muscle and bigger than he is. Avengers would be another good remake now you have me thinking who i want to play the part.

  10. Count me in. I’m also an avid fan of the Marvel and DC comic books. The special effects in film are high tech but they leave little to the imagination. This, in my opinion is the great disadvantage of modern-day technology!

  11. i hope the movie will be soon in cinema….cant wait. An other movie is Ironman 2

  12. I dont care who plays the Cap’ as long as it comes out.

  13. I go to the movies every weekend, I love it!

  14. I couldn’t agree more. I love the films based on Marvel comics, especially Hulk, Ironman, Daredevil and Spiderman. I hope they do make the Avengers. I wish they would make a movie of Dr. Strange (not animated). I know they did a TV film in 78 but a modern version would be appreciated.

  15. Just hope that the upcoming movie is worth the wait, unlike the Avengers movie featuring Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes, which flanked in theatres due to the lame plot and characters.

  16. Matthew McConaughey would be a complete tool as a superheroe. The guy is a lunk and it would spoil the iconic image we have of Thor. I think a Captain America movie would be pretty tight. It seems all the comic book stuff is being brought out thanks to CGI and better special effects.

  17. i do not live in america but i love captain america! it surely give me old vivid memories.. :) Haha, yeah, i hope it will be worth the wait all right… or else im gonna shout at the theatre “i want my money back!”

  18. Shouldn’t Captain America be played by UFC’s Randy “The Natural” Couture also known as Captain America? He’d beat the snot out of Matthew.

  19. I love that they are making comic books into movies… Even as a little girl i loved reading comic books and now that im older, they are making movies out of them! it’s so exciting!

  20. I always pictured matthew mcconaughey as steve rogers, but I guess we’ll see how Chris Evans does.
