You know, I got to thinking recently that’s it been ages since the last time I reviewed a Broadway Musical. I shall have to rectify that.
Okay, so I guess Evil Dead: The Musical hasn’t quite made it to the actual, real Broadway; but it’s probably just as well. Those “real theatre” going people wouldn’t even begin to understand a play with a Splatter Zone (where you are guaranteed to get soaked in blood).
The show was absolutely hilarious. The acting was superb and all the songs were excellent. The story itself was kind of a mash up of the first two Evil Dead movies and it included several of Ash’s best one-liners from Army of Darkness (I don’t think it would have been any good at all without, “This…is my boomstick!”) There were also a few subtle inside jokes; at one point Cheryl sit down to read and she holds up Bruce Campbell’s autobiography, later on just after Annie gets off the plane she mentions that the in-flight movie was Spiderman 3 and it “was really poorly directed”.
All of the actors were very talented but Tyler Rive (Ash) was really exceptional. He seemed to be channeling Bruce Campbell. As well, Rebecca Northan did a very good job of playing two very different characters (Shelly and Annie) and when she tore off her skirt, her…talent really showed.
The songs were quite funny and upbeat. My two favorites were “Look Who’s Evil Now” performed by Cheryl and Shelly after they became possessed by Candarian Demons, and “All the Men in My Life (Get Killed By Candarian Demons)” performed by Annie, Ash and Jake as she laments her fate.
If this show come to a city anywhere near you, I urge you to run (don’t walk) right out and go see it. You won’t want to fail to not miss this, I assure you. Now I just have to see “Spamalot” and “Too Much Coffee Man – The Opera”.
Ya really the show was very hilarious. Actually i wanna see the live show but i missed due to an urgent work and then i watched that recording..
Why would you want to write stuff like “You won’t want to fail to not miss this” ? I had to read it thrice to decode that.
Splatter zone?! Are you serious?! I so wanna see it now! Too bad I won’t be coming back to the US for the next couple weeks.
Music, plus jokes is going to prove the greatest thing.
One musical you’ll actually want to see.

). I have always beet opposite to going to all musicals/theatres etc, but I guess 1) I might even enjoy it if I actually try it 2) I hope I’ll impress my gf with that initiative 
That sounds like it could be a musical right up my alley. I’m not a huge musical fan…at all, but I am an Evil Dead fan.
I have been ever since I got the sound pack mod for my Doom 2 game…for those of you remember modding that game with those sounds.

Had to look this one up, thought it was a prank, but sure enough your right, the video looks very funny but they aren’t showing in the UK so out of luck.
Not seen the first Evil Dead Movie but have seen part 2 and Army of Darkness which was my favourite, very funny movie.

I definitely want to see Evil Dead because I love satirical comedy musicals like that. One of the best I had ever seen was Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Musical – really! It was at a local college, and it was awesome.
I’ve never actually seen a music before. Probably not one of my things, though the girlfriend would probably like it. Your review makes it sound pretty funny, so I might have to give it a try.

They where here in charlottesville,virginia a few months back here at UVA. One of my friends was telling me about them and thats how I found out about your blog,searching there name. She told me how hilarious it was. I will catch them next time they are in town. Great Blog! Will be back soon.
