I too hate SPAMs. Spam mails or spam comments, but thanks I have akismet plugin in my wordpress.

I agree with everyone captcha is a great way to filter those pesky tofu-bots. I’ll entertain the notion of a spam bot on my site but only it it provides me a free coupon for a buncha real SPAM!!!

A combination of capcha and regular monitoring of comments is surefire way to stop the spam

Attack of the spambots? I think that’s easy to remedy. All you have to do is to check the comments regularly and delete the spammy comments.

Captcha’s a great way to stop most bots, but the problem with these spam is that humans are doing it. We have clients that experience loads of spam from labour bought cheap — you can tell that humans are behind it, albeit a pretty poor grasp of grammar, sentence structure, etc. A lot of times these happen on WordPress blogs, and some of the plugins, like Top Commentators, have exploits that they take advantage of (which sounds pretty similar to what’s happening here.
