Recently, I had occasion to watch the movie S. Darko. I thought it was not bad, though not particularly good. Just kind of, meh. However, that is beside the point that I wish to make. There is one scene with a bunch of young people at a party and in the background there an unusual song playing. I looked at the credits and found out that it’s called “Hobo Humpin’ Slobo Babe” by a group called Whale. The song really caught my ear and I immeadiately had to try and find it. Alas, it is not available on iTunes (though I’m sure I could illegally download it, but that would make me an “evil hard-bitten criminal scum”).
I looked up Whale on Wikipedia and learned a few things about them. They are (or, I think, were) a Swedish band who wrote songs in English. The band consisted of, Henrik Schyffert, Gordon Cyrus and Cia Berg. Slobo Babe was their biggest success reaching the top ten in Denmark and Norway.
I’m not really sure what a “slobo babe” is. The only results I could find with a search was an abbreviation for Slobodan Milosevic. I assume that the “hobo humpin’” part means exactly what it seems to. For some reason, even though I don’t know the true definition, when I think about the phrase “Hobo humpin’ slobo babe”, a picture of Britney Spears comes to mind. Isn’t that weird?
Fortunately, I was able to find the video for the song on YouTube. It is very odd and thus I like it very much. After seeing Cia Berg in this, it makes me want to pretend to be a hobo for one night. You may now watch it here.

Dang. It drives me crazy that I can’t find out what a slobo-babe is. It is an awesome song, tho. I can see me doing a Zumba routine to it.
Will that be the new dance? Hobo humpin sounds like a pretty fun phrase that all the kids would be into these days. Haven’t you ever heard of the stanky leg dance?
Ha! What an apt description: Britany Spears is a “Hobo Humper.” Most excellent.
It’s kinda oldies, weird and some what unique. It could potentially be in for today’s music. lol

I really think, with the right marketing campaign, this could become like Fire Crotch.

My Danish friend brags me this song. And yes, this is not the usual type of rhythm that we normally hear in radio but we must admit that this song is catchy and nice

The title is unusual to say the least. The song even more unusual. The best way for me to describe the video is weird. Put it all together and the whole thing is …… a train wreck.

I’d never heard the song before but I have to admit that I like it. It’s catchy in a strange sort of way.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong but the video kind of reminds me of the, Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Black Eyed Peas, kinda sorta.
I don’t know what exactly I’m saying, just a little bit drunk right now but inspite of this, I can honestly say that I like the song and will try and acquire it legally, if that fails illegal will do. I don’t think their going to cal the CIA on me or anything like that.

This is a trippy song. During the beginning of the song I was like, “this is lame.” But now that I’ve finished listening to it, I’m like.. well, that was kinda catchy. Somewhat, odd, but still catchy.
