Life Is Like A Roller Coaster

It starts out at a stand-still as you get yourself situated, with a little help from people who have been around the roller coaster for a lot longer than you. Then you start going forward; a little bit hesitant and shaky as you leave the station. Next, you start climbing up and up and up. You begin to wonder whether or not it’s worth all that climbing. Eventually you reach the top and as you begin to see over the edge you think to yourself, “That doesn’t look so bad. I can’t imagine what all the hype is about.”

Then you go over and start screaming for your life. From there it’s more ups and downs, some wild corners and you even get turned completely upside down a few times. Soon you start to think, “Oh God, when will this end?!” I can’t take much more! I should have gone on the nice, slow, quiet tea-cup ride instead.”

Finally, though, you get to the end and you’re right back where you started. At which point you think, “Gee, I wish that had lasted longer and I wish I had thrown my hands up in the air a few more times.”

  1. I hate having to get to the top of the roller coaster myself. Its just so nerve racking, once you hit the top it is fun. I always wish you could just start the ride at the top with out having to do the climb up.

  2. I see what you did here.

But it’s not selling me on rollercoasters. I will, however, do the teacup ride, and wave my arms. That’s all I can promise you.

  3. i wish my lifestyle was as easy as riding a roller coaster :*(. You would think life is like Dr. Dooms\’ Fearfall from Islands of Adventure.

You may rise to the top and be successful ..but always be prepared for that unexpected drop at high velocity because you never know where it will lead to. You could set yourself for failure or rise back to the top.

  4. The ups and down are what makes life interesting though. It can be rough going through it at times but the ride at the end is always worth it.

  5. Hey man,
nice analogy with the roller coaster, I still think Forest Gumps mom said it best when she said “Life is Like a box of Chocolates you never know what your gonna get.”
thanks for the post and i look forward to reading more.

  6. Actually, I like this very much for an analogy of how life works. Key is, get a really good roller coaster, though. If you lived a boring crappy one with no loops, really, did you ever make the most of that ride?

  7. Nice post. Life can sometimes be as exciting as a roller coaster ride while some moments may test our coping skills. With all its high’s and low’s it teaches us humans to accept the happenings and move on.

  8. I’ve been there and done that. My life is all up and down, life truly is a roller coaster there is no smooth sailing in my life, but you have to be ready for all the challenges. It makes me strong every time I conquer my problems and move on.

  9. up and down, up and down. That is certainly the way my life has been lately. I sure wish we could get back to a stable economy…I know that one day we will look back on these as the best days of our lives.

  10. Yeah, certainly it is…no one could really knows on what your life gonna be in the future…like roller coaster, you may be on top of the others otherwise the opposite..so better strive hard to always be on top..

  11. I agree, life is really unpredictable, so better do your best in facing the reality of life..

  12. Well, all I could say is that life is a circle of journeys. Learn to be strong and learn how to enjoy in every rides of life whether you sometimes experience life’s cruelty. In the end, you’ll realize that riding in a roller coaster is having a worthy and meaningful living.

  13. Life is indeed like a rollercoaster as a time will come when you look back on life and wished you experienced new things before realising that either through age, health or both, that the time to do those things has passed.

  14. We only have one life and for sure we will experience struggles and downfall. Indeed life is a roller coaster..

  15. Haha! Such a nice experience riding a roller coaster. When I first tried it, I was so scared and tears is about to flow, but I tried to hide it. And when It’s about to go, I already screamed for my life.haha.. Funny experienced I got. anyway it’s worth the fun.

  16. i hear ya, things do always seem a little more pronounced when you look back on them.

  17. It doesn’t matter how up-and-down, fun or frightening, suspenseful, thrilling, sickening, or costly life’s ride might be, when it comes to a stop, most people will beg, like a child leaving a roller coaster, to be given JUST ONE MORE minute of it.

  18. Roller Coasters are one of the funniest activity especially during Carnival. Yet, it is also dangerous. And
to those who are having trauma or phobia in heights, never try this one out.

However, the post is great and you have shared a good article about this stuff. Keep it up

  19. I like the roller coaster analogy. It really is a great metaphor for life and relationships. With life, you never know what you’re gonna get. One thing you have to do before getting on the coaster is getting over your fear. Life is scary. There is going to be twists and turns you can’t see coming. There will be some low times at some point, where you can shake off the scary parts and prepare yourself for the next big drop. But by the end of the ride, you want to be able to say “I’m glad I decided to do this. It was scary, but I overcame it. I kicked this coaster’s ass!” Relationships can sometimes be exhilarating. On the coaster together, you both look at each other, laugh together and scream together-hearts pounding. Other times, the roller coaster is at a steady point and there is nothing exciting about it, or you feel like you’ve been on the roller coaster too many times and nothing can thrill you anymore. Oh yeah, love the roller coaster analogy. Thanks for posting this.

  20. couldn’t agree more, it is obvious that we all have experienced both the ascent and the downfall, however what makes the difference between losers and winners is the way we act in those moments :)
