We’ve been scheming away late at night over brews, trying to figure out how to give back to some of our favorite blogs and sites out there. How to show them that we really care, in a special and heartwarming way. If you sample everything in these redneck beer gift baskets, it may be heartburn inducing as well!
Think of this as our unique award for just being you. If we send you one of our  Redneck beer gift baskets, we hope you might pass it on to a few unsuspecting bloggers yourself.

You can pick up the code right here: Send a Virtual Beer Gift Basket

Of course, you don’t have to “reward” anyone (snicker inserted here) if you don’t feel like it. Just sit back, crack one of our virtual Blue Beaver Beers and sample one of the many snacks included in the basket. Enjoy!

Our first deserving victim, I mean, recipient, is RT from Untwisted Vortex. His wife is coming home soon for her  Philippines vacation, and RT has a big party planned. I wanted to send over this beer basket before it’s too late and he had to make do with some inferior brand of beer like Skrokanee or Moose Drool. We hope he has a great shindig over there, and we wish him and his wife the best!

We decided to use hand picked bullrush fronds from the banks of the mighty Horseguard River, instead of a stainless steel bucket as in our usual beer gift baskets. That a little less of a redneck gift this way I know, but I thought RT’s wife might appreciate the basket for house decorating.

What is going into Richard’s basket? Well,  we’ll start it off with one dozen Blue Beaver Beers, lovingly surrounded with 2 layers of bubble wrap to make sure they get there in one piece. You can check out our Virtual Beer Basket code page to see the rest of the snacks. I know your mouth will be watering in anticipation and envy when you see what we are sending to the Philippines!

Well, we’ve mostly recovered from that Bash in the Skull we had on Monday night at The Redneck. There’s no better way to ring in the new year than a massive head trauma. It was a wild night. We came pretty close to running out of Blue Beaver Beer; towards the end of the night I was starting to worry that Tim or I would have get into our private stashes of Blue Beaver Beer gift baskets. Fortunately it didn’t come to that. The Bar Brawl Tournament was a huge success. We had a lot of new participants who tried really hard, but came up just a bit short. The new singles champion is none other than “Crazy Eyes” Larry. I suspect he won due to the fact that he can look to his left and his right at the same time, so no one could sneak up on him. In a huge upset Tammy and Gerri were narrowly defeated by the team of Solay and Peltiere. However, the decision was reversed after a urine test revealed a lack of performance enhancing drugs. So Tammy and Gerri are still the tag team champs. They also showed a practical use for their brawling skills. Later in the evening when the band White Noise performed their smash hit, “Telephone Busy Signal” the crowd went crazy. A bunch of them started moshing (which we are not licensed for) so Gerri and Tammy “escorted” them out the door; head first. Of course they just enjoyed that, so they continued to mosh in the parking lot. All in all I think a good time was had by everyone.

Here it is, a video demonstration of Ernie’s world famous Gingerbread with Beer, or Gingerbeerbread. Ernie slaved away for minutes to bring you this dish! If you ever wanted to make your own Homemade Ice-cream Sandwiches, this should give you all the info you need. Most of this video is in the making of the actual gingerbread, since most people can figure out how to cut bread and put ice-cream between two slices.

The recipes can be found on the original entry, What’s On The Menu. That is where you will find the actual Gingerbread Recipe with Beer, as well as a Rum Sauce Recipe.

One step that isn’t in the video, but will help a lot, is to chill the bread thoroughly in the fridge or freezer before attempting to slice it. Gingerbread can be pretty crumbly when warm, and you can end up with a lot of crumbs real fast. Another thing Ernie mentioned that he likes to do, is to use multigrain or whole wheat flour, and this gives a little more firmness to the bread as well.

If you are making your own beer gift baskets from scratch, and you plan on chilling the beer for immediate drinking, these ice cream sandwiches would make an excellent gourmet addition to your gift.

And now a word on Tiger Torches. These handy items were used in the Forest of Ubangme to burn out tiger dens, and the best ones still come from there. Here in Alberta, they have become a common oilfield tool used widely for ‘shrinking sleeves’, heating metal, thawing frozen things in the winter, and cooking. You can heat a can of soup, roast hot dogs, you name it. Caution must be used around flammable objects when using one of these units! The temperature can be hard to regulate, so be careful. Warning: do not cook indoors with tiger torches! We will not be held responsible if you die in a freak cooking accident, or if attacked by a tiger outside his den. Ernie uses the tiger torch for several applications at the Redneck Bar and Grill.

Hope you enjoy the Gingerbread Beer Recipe and the Homemade Gingerbread Ice-cream Sandwiches! Click this link if there is a problem viewing the video : Gingerbread Ice-cream Sandwich

Be The Blog award

Well, ain’t that special! Ernie and I received an award! It is really great to get a Be The Blog award from I Do Things So You Don’t Have To (at first I thought it was a Beer The Blog award, since that kinda would have made sense). She originally gave it to us at our old site, Blue Beaver Beer. We no longer just sit around drinking beer over there, although I still have it active. That blog will be completely discontinued real soon. It had 35 spam comments in the last twelve hours, and Typepad doesn’t give any options for weeding the damn things out except manually.

I guess all of our hard work drinking beer and making stuff up finally paid off. This award was created by MeAndMyDrum to be given to blogs who have fun with it, who really “make it their own”, and who interact with readers. I’d say we are doing our best to have positive relationships with our beer buddies from around the world. Why, just last night we hosted a good old fashioned Monday Night Brawl for some of our friends.

The best part about this is the opportunity to pass this award on to others who could use a pat on the back. I’d love to send them both a gift of Blue Beaver Beer in a basket, but I’m fresh out so they will have to get their own beer and snacks.

  • The first one that comes to mind is Gerri at Absolutely True. Not only does she have weird news from around the world, gossip about celebrities and pictures of cats riding invisible bicycles, she also keeps the witty banter flowing in comment form on other people’s blogs. She collects cool and funny videos like these ones about Miss South and Miss West Carolina. And she ‘ll back you up in a brawl with her trusty, rusty knife.
  • Then there’s RT at Untwisted Vortex. I like to read his posts even when I barely have a clue what he’s talking about, like this one about Packet Internet Gropers. There always seems to be a lively conversation about Pagerank, or the legalities of pirated stuff, and a whole pile of other things. RT is handing out awards for frequent commenters on other people’s blogs. All you have to do is ask, and he reviews blogs for free, stumbles, diggs, favorites and helps promote anyone’s content that he doesn’t find offensive or unethical (for him, personally). How can much more can anyone be their blog?
